1st XI Promoted...
The 2007 season saw our 1st XI finally promoted to Hampshire cricket league division 2 (south west) after a couple of years of decent efforts and the building of a young squad, with a mixture of experience as well. Under the leadership of skipper Paul Langford expectations are high of the possibilities of further promotion in the near future.
The 2nd XI are still waiting to hear if they will be promoted. They finished one place below the automatic promotion positions, but what with the normal annual re-changing of the league format there's a possibility of promotion, fingers crossed...

Stone cup Entry for 2009
Due to our promotion last season we are now invited to enter the Stone Cup competition. These matches I believe will be played on Monday nights, and if like last season will involve a round robin stage before knockout stages. We will also be re-entering the forest cup 20/20 league. Just for information purposes, the cup was not won last year due to fixture congestion. A new format is being discussed at the New Forest AGM early next year.
New 2ND XI Skipper
For the past 3 seasons Alan Varley has been captain of the 2nd XI. In those 3 seasons the team have endured mixed success, always finishing in the top half of the table and always putting up a fight regardless of the situation. At times Alan hasn't had the strongest side to pick from, which makes the job virtually impossible at times, even having to employ players in the under 11's at times. With this in mind, and the arrival of another sibling, Alan decided to hand the reigns over. We thank Alan for all the hard work he has done - he has left a strong group of players to work with, which is really encouraging for the future of the club.
At the AGM at the back end of last season the new skipper was chosen, Iestyn Lewis. The 26 year old all rounder, and former 1st team vice captain will hopefully build a good bond with 1st team skipper to give a good balance to both sides for the up and coming season. Good luck Iestyn.
